Dark beers are often a hard sell. They’re a select taste that aren’t for everyone. So, when we released Balter Black last year, we weren’t quite prepared for how popular it would be. It sold out wildly fast in its limited release tins and venues kept asking for more kegs to keep it on tap.
The secret was that it was lighter than a traditional stout. Sure it had the espresso-choc malt notes of classic dark beers, but the Lager style made it lighter and more approachable. A fine balance that proved even if you wear black, you can still be the life of the party.
Due to popular demand, this drinkable dark beer is now back for good with the recipe has been finessed by our Head Brewer James to be even tastier 4.9% ABV!

Otherwise, here’s a quick refresher:
Like a biker ballerina, this beer looks as tough as nails but is light on its feet with all the right moves. Surprisingly smooth to sip, its subtle chocolate and espresso notes finish with a pop of cherry and shimmy of molasses–all from rice, barley and hops. Proof you can wear black and still be the life of the party.
Now available exclusively in cans at Liquorland stores, and on tap at our Currumbin Taproom and Balter-loving venues Australia-wide. Use our Beer Locator find a stockist near you – we recommend calling ahead to make sure it’s on tap or in stock!
