Sunshine, cold tins, celebrity swings, and the occasional mid-winter lake swim in boxers (don’t ask). The 2025 Mick Fanning Charity Golf Day was one for the books.
Now in its fourth annual year, the event stepped things up yet again, bringing together legends of sport, screen, surf, and whatever category The Mad Hueys fall into, to raise money for communities doing it tough. Continuing support for those affected by the 2022 floods in Northern NSW, this year’s proceeds benefited Northern Rivers Region Givit, Human Nature, Hands On Hearts, Cure EB, and other local charities. A massive thanks to everyone who chipped in and pulled together another epic, record-breaking day. Together we topped last year’s total, raising $700,000 – pushing the four-year tally past $2.6 million!
The usual suspects were back in action: Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Julian Wilson, and almost-pro surfer Hamish Blake all hit the greens. Olympic gold medalist Sally Pearson set the pace on the fairway, while Glenn Robbins brought more laughs than birdies (but only just). The course was looking sharp, the sun was out, and the Balter rooftop bar was serving up cold beers for players taking a well-earned, responsible break.
As always, the day wasn’t just about golf. Shannon Noll belted out a crowd-stirring rendition of 'What About Me' after serenading happy birthday to Mick. The Mad Hueys crew kept the energy high with a full-throttle motocross show, and someone (we won’t name names) thought it was a great time for a lakeside dip. In winter. In boxers. Luckily, they kept those on.
Back on dry land, the Balter chip-off crowned a new Lord of the Tins: Ben Rothery. His reward? A throne made of beers and eternal bragging rights. The million-dollar hole-in-one went begging, as did the putt-for-a-pallet. But the real win came from team Jezza, Brett, and Trent from Balter, joined by former pro golfer Paul Gow, who walked away with the title of tournament champs.
Balter’s Caddy was on site doing what he does best: getting in the way, handing out rogue advice, and offering autographs nobody really asked for. But mostly, he just helped keep the vibes high and the beers flowing.
It was all smiles, all day. And with more funds raised than ever before, all for a bloody good cause, we’ll happily call this year’s charity day a huge success. Big love to @mfanno who has this amazing gift to rally people together to do great things.
Catch the Caddy behind the swings video below and keep an eye out for the Melbourne event later in the year. Until then, thanks to everyone who came, swung, cheered, sipped, and supported. You legends.
